Educational Qualification
A Postgraduate degree (MD / MS) in the concerned specialty OR DNB in Broad Specialties from the National Board of Examinations (from a medical institution with an attached hospital, or a hospital with 500 or more beds)
Must be registered with the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council.
Age Limit (as on the notification date 10 July 2026):
Broad Specialties – Maximum age 44 years.
Pre‑clinical & Para‑clinical subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine) – Maximum age 50 years.
Local Candidate Rule
Candidates who are local to Andhra Pradesh are given preference.
Non‑local candidates holding AP Medical registration are considered only if local candidates are not available.
A candidate who has studied for at least four years between the 4th and 10th class in Andhra Pradesh is treated as a local candidate.
The remuneration for Senior Residents in Broad Specialties is a fixed monthly honorarium of ₹80,500. This figure is established under Government Order (G.O.Ms. No. 723, HM&FW (C1) Department, dated 4 December 2024). The appointment is strictly for a one‑year period, and candidates must complete the entire tenure to receive the full honorarium. Besides the monthly payment, residents gain extensive hospital experience, exposure to teaching responsibilities, and the prestige of serving in a government‑run medical institution.
There is no written examination for this recruitment. The entire selection is merit‑based, derived from the marks obtained in the post‑graduation examination (both theory and practical components).
