The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released a fresh notification for the post of Assistant Manager in the Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL). The 35 vacancies are spread across six engineering and management disciplines, each carrying its own category‑wise reservation for UR, OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PwBD and Ex‑Servicemen candidates, exactly as given in the official notification. The discipline‑wise break‑up is shown below.

Your educational qualification depends on the discipline you choose. You must hold a full‑time degree from a University or Institution approved by AICTE / UGC, with a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying examination (50% for SC and ST candidates in the engineering posts, and 55% for SC and ST in the HR post). Management graduates aiming for post‑graduate government jobs can apply for the Human Resource post. The branch‑wise requirement is as follows:
Assistant Manager (Electrical): B.E / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
Assistant Manager (Mechanical): B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Assistant Manager (Instrumentation): B.E / B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering
Assistant Manager (IT): B.E / B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering or Information Technology
Assistant Manager (Civil): B.E / B.Tech in Civil Engineering
Assistant Manager (HR): Two‑year full‑time MBA / PGDM with specialization in Human Resource Management, Personnel Management or Industrial Relations
A diploma‑plus‑engineering route (3 years after diploma, or the 2+2+2 pattern) is also accepted for the engineering posts, as detailed in the notification.
As on 1 January 2026, you should be not less than 21 years and not more than 38 years of age. The upper age limit is relaxed for reserved categories as per Assam Government rules:

For the Human Resource post, the upper age limit is relaxable up to 45 years for departmental candidates. The PwBD relaxation of 10 years applies across all categories.
Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam. You will need to upload a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam, or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate, as proof of residency.
The Assistant Manager post in APGCL carries a solid pay structure fixed by the Assam Government, and this is paid per month along with the usual allowances. The pay details are:
Pay Scale: Rs 37,300 – Rs 1,12,000 per month
Grade Pay: Rs 14,200
Allowances: Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other benefits admissible to Assam State Government employees
At the start of the pay band, your basic pay of Rs 37,300 plus Grade Pay of Rs 14,200 works out to about Rs 51,500 per month, and this keeps growing once Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other benefits are added. Screening / Written Examination: The Commission may hold a Screening Test or Written Examination to shortlist candidates. It may also conduct the examination zone‑wisE across the Silchar, Jorhat, Nagaon, Tezpur, Kokrajhar and Guwahati zones depending on how many candidates apply.
